Did you know that in 2019 the average consumption of packaging waste in Germany per capita was 227.55 kilograms per year? This was announced by the Federal Environment Agency at the end of 2021. An incomprehensibly high amount that must be significantly reduced for the sake of the environment. And we are talking about statistics that were collected before the Corona pandemic. Besides, everyone probably knows how much waste is produced just by using a rapid test.
But fortunately, the trend is moving more and more towards environmentally friendly outer packaging. Perhaps you have noticed this too? In shops, especially in drugstores, simple product packaging is being used more and more often. Packaging made of wood fibre, recycled paper or the like. An insane contrast to the otherwise colourful sales packaging we were used to. In addition, the trend can be seen that the packaging is also becoming smaller and smaller. Both phenomena can be attributed to environmental protection, among other things. Packaging made of a single material, for example, is much easier to recycle than composite materials. On the other hand, material can be saved by reducing the size of the packaging. Smaller packaging = less waste.
